Back in July the state of Georgia took away a freedom from me and every other driver and we had no protest marches and no one went to the media and protested our “hands free driving law”. The law is meant to protect the citizens of our state for their own protection. We no longer have the freedom of touching our phones while driving at all. You can’t hold or support your cell phone with any part of your body or you are breaking the law. You can’t make or watch a video while driving or again you are breaking the law. Now a vast majority of people have never had an accident while touching a cell phone, their have been a few that have had an accident. So while we have had no mass murders while driving with a cell phone the state felt that we needed these laws for our own safety. No one really objected because it’s for the betterment of society and I know that driving is not a right but a privilege. (Just hearing that makes me feel a little uneasy since I don’t like the feeling that the government is letting me have the privilege of driving as well as the privilege of paying taxes for the roads and not to mention their salary and they give me the privilege of driving in return, how nice of them.) Now because of a few bad drivers my freedom is taken away. Why doesn’t the state feel the need to protect us from the few bad gun owners that commit mass murders. I can point to way more mass murders with guns then I can mass murders with a cell phone. It’s funny since I’m not allowed to touch my cell phone while driving but I can touch my gun without question if I have a concealed weapons permit. But the government won’t protect us from a weapon that is used to kill a person every three minutes in the United States. But they they feel the need to protect me from my own cell phone. I guess someone could say that they are violating my first amendment right of stopping free speech just as any law that puts any restrictions on gun owners makes them throw up the second amendment. You can say that the first amendment was created when we didn’t have cell phones so it doesn’t count. Well then I say you can have all the muskets you want.
